Getting LASIK has been on my mind for a while. I’ve worn glasses for over a decade, and while I’ve gotten used to them, I always found them annoying, especially in humid weather or when playing sports. I finally decided to take the plunge after moving to Japan, where I heard great things about LASIK quality and affordability.
Why Shinagawa LASIK?
After reading a bunch of reviews online (yes, I went deep into Reddit threads), Shinagawa LASIK Clinic came up again and again. It seemed like the most trusted clinic among foreigners, and I loved that they had a 1-Day LASIK program. The idea of combining the consultation and surgery into a single visit was incredibly convenient. Ultimately, I decided to move forward with the surgery at their Osaka branch.
My LASIK Day Experience
I arrived early in the morning and filled out some forms. The staff was efficient and surprisingly warm, even though I could tell they were dealing with a lot of patients. The pre-surgery tests took a while, but they were very thorough — they even double-checked everything multiple times to make sure my eyes were suitable.
The surgery itself? Wildly quick. I was in the operating room for maybe 15 minutes. There was no pain, just a strange pressure sensation and a slight burning smell (not scary, just… odd). The whole process felt like it flew by, and when I sat up, I could already see things sharply than before.
By the next morning, I could read the train signs without squinting. That’s when it hit me — this was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
How Much Did It Cost?
Okay, here’s the part most people are curious about. The price of the surgery depends on the procedure. I took the Amaris 750S procedure (without cross-linking), and the standard price was ¥320,000. But I managed to get a pretty solid discount:
- ¥50,000 off using a referral code from a friend
- ¥10,000 off for going with the 1-Day LASIK program
I ended up paying just ¥260,000
Not bad for being able to wake up and see the world clearly again.
Want to Save ¥50,000?

If you’re planning to get LASIK at Shinagawa, I’d love to share my referral code with you. When you use it, you’ll get a ¥50,000 discount on your procedure, and I’ll also receive a small referral gift from the clinic as a thank you. It’s a win-win — I’m simply sharing this to help others save and to pass on the benefit!
Feel free to email me at [jeychester07@gmail.com] if you want the discount voucher or have questions about the process.
